This record has been a real quest, featuring songs written from 2019-2022 and with the first recordings that ended up on the album from early 2020. But it’s all united across that wild and weird time in the common theme of sisterhood; of letting go of my insecurity, of my stubborn independence, of my ideas of what kind of artist I “should” be, and embracing the love of my community. Lessons I still learn over and over again.
The beautiful cover art above was made in collaboration with incredible artist and old friend Henry Mills…. I wanted to make something that suggested a kind of alien abduction, or maybe forced recruitment as an engine technician on a weird transfemme spaceship. Dragged into the women’s bathroom on mars. A sort of sub theme of the album that might become clear.
